Bumper Sticker'd Car

Eventually I'll get to the meat of my photos from the Ann Arbor Art Center, but until then, here is a car out front. Stickers include a Chicago Cubs section, Frederick Douglass, Zoidberg, LBJ USA, Gumby, Metallica, and "My Other Transport is the Millenium Falcon"

Not art

This stool at the Ann Arbor Art Center wasn't one of the exhibits, but I still liked it. I want to make this a 16x20 print and hang it above the stool just to confuse people.

Light Bulbs

These bulbs were part of a much larger art exhibit at the Ann Arbor Art Center. More about this in entries to follow.

Monopoly

When we played Angela's alternate rules version of monopoly--which, among other things, includes a bowl of death--we didn't feel like being the playing pieces that came with the Michiganopoly game (who wants to be a Calculus book?). We pulled out the D&D minis and each chose a guy. I was a dire wolverine, Angie was a blood ape. Between that and the hippogriff, the five of us had quite the menagerie.

Leaves in reflection

Last Sunday, I walked around with Steve and Jean to pass on some photo tips. Steve spotted some cool reflections out on the sidewalks near our apartment.

Gymnastics 7

The final post of gymnastics week is another before and after shot (so all you Google Reader subscribers, view the actual entry). Mouseover to see the original shot before edits. Again, I didn't take the time to make it error free, but it's not bad.

(It may take some time, so continue to hold your mouse over it)

Gymnastics 2

The weird thing about the meet we went to was that, since there were four schools there, events happened simulataneously. This was originally going to be a shot of Michgan on beam, but then someone from Western came into the shot and it became a floor exercise photo.

Gymnastics 1

On Friday, Karen, Ciara, and I went to see the State of Michigan Classic over at Crisler, so I thought I would make this week Gymnastics Week on the photo blog. Below you'll see a photo merge of 8 or so photos. It looks much better large, so please click to make it bigger.

Happy Birthday to Me!

For my birthday, I requested the traditional chocolate on chocolate with sprinkles cake. Karen made this delicious layer cake for me.

Bonus photo (sorry for cameraphone quality): my super cool birthday pizza from my church small group yesterday. Fun fact: pizza is hot enough to melt candle wax without the candles even being lit.

Turkey Dinner

Karen has always wanted to try her hand at making a turkey. Here is the delicious meal that we ate.

And here is the meal that Zooey ate while we were eating. I needed to go out and buy more work shirts anyway.

A letter from Evelia

This isn't a photograph per se (unless you count a scanner as a type of camera), but it's something I wanted to share. Karen and I have been sponsoring an eight year old child in Africa through Compassion International for a while. The correspondence takes quite a while to get to us, but we enjoy writing letters back and forth. Monday we got a great letter. You can either click the images below to view them larger (which I reccomend) or read the text below.

Letter dated 12/10/2008: "Evelia is very happy to write to you. She says that she hopes you are all well in the LORD. and is very thankful for your continued support. She is equally happy that your a year old in marriage. She wishes you a happy marriage life. Evelia is happy to inform you that she received your birthday gift. She used them to buy; rubber shoes, beans, maize, a goat, and rope for handling goat. The goat is her favorite. it eats bush!! The family was very happy for you. Before they started eating, they took time to pray for you. She asks when your birthday will be. She says, she received your card and stickers. They are in her home. About her village, she says it in Kenya, Nyanza Province, Rarieda District at a placed called Nyagoko. It is in a hilly ground and she can see other areas. Why do they not allow you to have a dog? she asks, are they afraid.
Evelia says she is doing well in school and wants to be number 1. She says she will pray for you. She concludes by wishing you a merry-x-mass. Bye Bye!"

A goat! I just think it's really cool that before she didn't have a goat and now she does. If anyone would like to get me a goat for my birthday, you are more than welcome to.

This is the region in which Evelia lives

Outside:
Woman with dog head: "Just wanted to wish a friend a happy birthday!"

Inside:
"Oh, the
head-of-a-golden-retriever thing?

That's just a rare side effect of this prescription I'm taking.
I would be the one to get it, right?

Sticker

This photo, snapped with my camera phone, is of a sticker I saw on my walk back to work after lunch. Is the sticker itself supposed to be worn, or was it attached to something that was supposed to be worn? If so, why where they unwrapping it in the middle of the sidewalk?
