Barack Obama

Below is a photo I took in 2005 of Barack Obama at an NAACP meeting. On seeing Obama I wrote:

"Three of us Daily folks drove out to Cobo in Detroit to see this guy, Barack Obama, speak at an NAACP event. He's one of those up-and-comers that everyone talks about." I also noted, "Obama's as charismatic guy as everyone else says and a good (also easy to photograph) speaker." And now here it is: 2009 and he's president.

Some fellow photographers back in the day had photos they took in Washington of then-president George W. Bush. I always thought it would be cool to take my own photograph of a president. Mission accomplished.

UMich Spring Graduation Speaker: Larry Page

Larry Page Google Founder Cottage Inn Ann Arbor MI photographed with two co-geniuses They recently announced that Larry Page (a.k.a. one of the Google guys) is going to be the spring commencement speaker at the University. As someone who's photographed his share of graduations, I must say that Larry was a great speaker. He was also very good at getting his picture taken with Joel and me back in 2005.

Karen on our wedding day

I'm going through all my photos figuring out what photos I want to use for building a wedding photography website. I did take a few photos at our wedding and so I'm not going to rule them out. Here's one that Karen liked. I also wanted do a post that showed some photoshoppery so if you mouseover the image, you'll see the original unedited image. The edit is by no means flawless, but it's not bad.

Sledding at Veterans Memorial Park

Mainly this entry exists so that I can share the video below, but with some photoshoppery, I guess the above photo didn't turn out half bad for being taken with a camera phone in a plastic bag.

Yesterday Karen and I went sledding in Veterans Memorial Park on a tip from Jen that it had a pretty awesome hill. She was quite right. We attempted to grab some video on the way down:

Our apartment has a bunch of long icicles hanging off the roof. I took this photo yesterday around 6:00.

Hey there

Let's be honest. It's been a long time since I've updated mikehulsebus.com. In an effort to keep photos heading out into the masses, I wanted to start a blog where all I had to do was put up one photo per day. I'm not abandonning mikehulsebus.com by any stretch, but I figured I could use this to bring you more current, up to date photos. I'll post on this site when mikehulsebus.com updates as well so you don't miss anything on that end.

Those of you on Google Reader, remember to subscribe to my RSS feed if you are interested:
