Focus
Karen pointed out that one day we're going to look back on this photo and be like "Look at that old car!"
The Little Prince
Angie lent me her much-loved copy of The Little Prince. Before she owned it, it was gifted to someone else.

UMMA Grand Opening 1
Karen and I went to the Museum of Art downtown on the day they opened their new wing to the public. The wing's official lengthy title is the Maxine and Stuart Frankel and the Frankel Family Wing. They've got a lot of cool contemporary art in there. Karen and I look forward to going back when it's not so crowded.
This floor is in part of an exhibit that also features mirrored cubes that were Fed Ex'd in boxes to the museum of art to make natural cracks on the surface from damage through the shipping process.

Merry Christmas You Wonderful Old City 17
I was going to play Half Life the other day, but then I realized that it wasn't going to work out. I've had to repair my speakers multiple times after Zooey ate them. And it's gotten down to the point that only one speaker really works.
The thing about playing Half Life is that the gunshots always sound like they're coming from a specific side. So without thinking, I can hear a shot and know that someone is on my right.
The problem with playing with one speaker it's like playing a version of Gordon Freeman that saved his kid brother Harry by jumping into freezing cold water and as a result is unable to hear out of one ear.
New speakers from newegg on the way.

Red-Winged Blackbird
Karen and I went out to Gallup Park on Mar 14 to walk around. There were a bunch of these red-winged blackbirds spread all throughout the area all singing similar songs, usually from the highest branches of the trees.

Gnarly Tree
Karen spotted this great tree while out and about and so we took a photography field trip last Friday.

Apocolypse in red
I got out my trusty red filter today to take some black and white photos. Normally I use it take really contrasty black and white photos like you'll see over the next few days, but I like how this one looked in color.

Peephole
No, I don't own a fisheye lens. This photo is taken by putting my 50mm f1.8 lens so that it is physically touching the peephole in our door. I wish I could duct tape a peephole to the front of my camera and go around taking photos with it.

It's like Food Network for Cats
Many Saturday mornings I make breakfast for Karen and I. Zooey likes to sit on the counter and watch me make it. For whatever reason, when Karen makes breakfast, Zooey always gets too close to things and has to be pushed away. No one wants cat fur in pancakes.

Karen is Crafty 4
Karen is talented to just think these things up off the top of her head. The purple guy is still my favorite.

A Day Out
Karen and I went downtown to walk around in the nice weather and we didn't get far before Karen accidentally stepped in some mud. We went back a ways so Karen could wash her shoe off. In looking in mirror, she noticed a burr in her hair. "How did that get in your hair?" I asked.
"I walked into a tree earlier today"

GSI strike photo
Karen and I went to see the free planetarium show in Angell Hall last weekend. And in going through the hall to get there, we ran across this doorway. Whoever the GSI is, they still have a photo I took for the Daily on their door four years after it was published which is pretty cool to see.

Music for a Failed Economy
When we all went to check out the stuff at the Ann Arbor Art Center, we went not really sure what we were going to see since we'd only seen it on an ArborWeb listing. The art from two days ago (the swoopy thing for lack of a better word) was made using a 3d printer. The flat face of it was taking from digital images around campus and then swooped in to make a long combination. Here, this photo explains it better.
In my opinion, the coolest thing was Music from a Failed Economy, which was made up of 5 different organs that played themselves. You flip the on switch and a series of turning pieces of wood hit the keys at the right times. It's pretty great.I was hoping that I'd be able to find a video online, but there are 0 search results for "Music for a Failed Economy" so you'll have to put up with the horrible audio quality of my phone to get a small idea of what it was like. It doesn't sound so discordant in person.
Next time I just gotta bring the actual video camera.
